Part 1

Build a strong foundation for your arm balance and inversion practice with this 2-hour workshop. You will be guided into a variety of basic to intermediate arm balances and inversions. Beginners will be given step-by-step progressions and will have the opportunity to explore postures with 1:1 instructor support, props, and modifications. Folks who are comfortable with their arm balance and/or inversion practice will play with transitions and variations for an added challenge that can be creatively integrated into your daily practice. All levels are welcome, you will receive supportive instruction and tips and tricks that are specific to you.

The 2 hour workshop will include:

  • A warm up with a short vinyasa practice.

  • Introduction to the benefits and contraindications associated with arm balances and inversions.

  • Instruction on postures and drills to build foundational strength, flexibility, and balance that you can practice at home to support your arm balance and inversion journey.

  • Breakdown of approximately 3 arm balances and 3 inversion postures.

  • Practice of postures with modifications, props, wall support, and 1:1 assists/coaching.

Come prepared to learn, explore, and play! Even if you are not ready to get upside down, you will leave with the foundations and tools to build confidence for when the time is right.

Whether you are new to and curious about these types of yoga postures or you have an evolving practice, Abbey Bates will offer a unique perspective grounded in her personal yoga practice, her experience facilitating workshops and her curiosity in exploring physical and mental strength.
